Official Plan Update

This page is dedicated to providing information concerning the Township of Wainfleet’s undertaking of updating its Official Plan.  Below you will find information pertaining to public meetings concerning the update, how residents may become involved in the process, as well as links to useful documents and other information.  Should you require any more information, please contact Charles V. Consideration of New Official Plan

After 18 months of study and community engagement, the Township's Consultant (Sorensen Gravely Lowes Planning Associates), has now provided a recommended Official Plan for consideration by Township Council.

A Special Meeting of Council will be held on September 8th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers to consider the consultant and staff recommendation of the new Township Official Plan.

Draft Official Plan
In late Spring 2010, the Consultant prepared a Draft New Official Plan (dated July 2010) which was the subject of public agency and Council review in July and August.

Open House on Thursday, July 22, 2010

On Thursday, July 22, 2010, Township Staff and the Consultant conducted an Open House which permitted many interested people to discuss and learn about the Draft Official Plan.  The information panels used at the Open House are available below:

Public Meeting on Thursday, August 5, 2010

On Thursday, August 5, 2010, Township Council held a formal public meeting which permitted any interested party to provide input to the draft Official Plan directly to Council.

Secondary Agricultural Assessment

AgPlan Limited has prepared a study entitled, “Secondary Agricultural Assessment for the Differentiation of Agricultural and Rural Areas within the Northeast Area of the Township of Wainfleet, Region of Niagara”.  This study is background to the Draft Official Plan and is available below:

Policy Directions Report

Earlier this year the Consultant produced the “Policy Directions Report”.  The Policy Directions Report described the recommended changes to the Township Official Plan, including recommendations for revising current policies and recommendations or additional policies.

The Policy Directions Report was the subject of public review and comment in May and June.  An Open House relating to the Report was held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
